Review: Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm

Hi all!

After researching cleansing oils and balms I decided to try a new one. I do like my cleansing oil by The Body Shop (review can be found here) but you know when you get a little bored using the same product for a really long time? I had that, so I read plenty of blog posts, newspaper articles and watched Youtube videos before deciding on the Merumaya Melting Cleansing Balm as my next purchase.

The consistency of the balm is nice and gel-like but definitely balmy if that makes sense. When I applied it to my dry face (with dry hands) it kept its form and spread over my skin nice and evenly. Again, it smells nice so was really pleasant to use. The instructions say to add a little water after this step to help loosen the product, which I did and it then turned into a milk. I then used one of the Daily Cleansing Cloths that I soaked in hot water and it was utter bliss putting it on my face.

The cloth holds the heat from the hot water so much better than my muslin cloth (from The Body Shop) as it's quite thin in comparison. I can see why Hirons is such a flannel cloth devotee. I then decided to purchase some white and cream face flannels from Home Bargains as theirs are only 49p, much thicker and hold the heat from the hot water even better than the Merumaya Cleansing Cloths! I kinda wish I just purchased those to begin with, as the Merumaya Cleansing Cloths work out at £1.50 each. So if you want to save money, pay Home Bargains a visit and buy at least 7 white or cream deluxe face flannels for only 49p each. It'll make a massive difference to your cleansing routine.

I must mention that it's important to double cleanse if you've been wearing makeup and/or SPF. So use a cleansing oil to remove your makeup and/or SPF and then go in with a nice face wash afterwards to remove the residue.

What cleansing balms/oils have you guys tried?
